The First Peoples SIG was created in response to a new direction in the MAS strategic plan. That direction focuses on creating a more inclusive Association by developing a closer relationship with the Aboriginal and providing support to established Aboriginal heritage sites and communities that want to develop heritage facilities. The purpose of this SIG is to provide an opportunity for Aboriginal people to network, share experiences and resources, discuss common issues, and identify types of on-going support that are needed. The SIG will also provide a point of access for Aboriginal people into the Saskatchewan museum community if they have not previously been involved.
