| | | | | SK Digital Alliance Launches Website | Posted: December 12, 2007 | Saskatchewan Digital Alliance launches its website
The Saskatchewan Digital Alliance (SDA) is pleased to announce the launch of their new website www.saskdigital.ca . This website is intended to make it easier for libraries, archives, museums and other institutions in Saskatchewan to find relevant information related to digitization. We are also launching a blog to provide updates on digitization activities in the province and to initiate a dialogue among people interested in digitization. A feed from the blog will appear on the website.
Features on the site include:
- Information about digitization training and workshops;
- An archive of training materials and resources from past workshops (i.e. the SDA's workshop at the 2007 SLA conference);
- Information about Alouette Canada, including updates on the SDA's involvement with Alouette Canada;
- Information about and updates on the Provincial Library's digitization grant program;
- News and updates about digitization projects, workshops and developments;
- Listing and description of Saskatchewan digitization projects created as part of the 2005 Digitization Inventory Project;
- Information about joining the SDA listserv;
The Saskatchewan Digital Alliance (SDA) is a cross-sector, co-operative body that was initiated by the Multitype Library Board to promote and facilitate the development of digital collections in Saskatchewan. The SDA advises the Multitype Library Board on issues related to its strategic direction that aims to "expand access to content, including digitized information; broaden Multitype partnerships; and, build capacity of the partners."

| | | | | Museums and Sustainable Communities | Posted: November 13, 2007 |
To those interested in how museums can position themselves to be catalysts of cultural change and contribute to the sustainability of their communities. In Canada, the Working Group on Museums and Sustainable Communities has been developing resources and delivering workshops to museum organizations on this topic for the past 7 years.
There is now a website that provides information on the Working Group and access to its most recent 'Resource Document' (as a downloadable pdf file).
For access to the Working Group's website, go to www.geocities.com/wgmsc
There are additional resources on culture and sustainability available through my own website, listed below.
The website for material related to the Working Group on Museums and Sustainable Communities has a daily limit for data transfer. It seems that there are a lot of people interested in the website and the daily limit for today has already been reached - which was also the case yesterday. My suggestion is to make a note to log on later in the week. Sorry for the hassle, but we don't have money for web-hosting, which is why we are using a free geocities hosting site.
If you send me an email, I will send you the main 'reference document' for the Working Group.
