Collections Management Special Interest Group
Collections Management
The members of this SIG are dedicated to the accurate documentation, standardization, and overall management, of permanent collections; members consist of registrars, collections managers, museum volunteers or staff with broader responsibilities, who want to be involved in the issues and concerns relating to the preservation of collections through research and documentation. A key topic of discussion has been the ongoing advancements of computerized collection management systems and ways in which to keep abreast of new technologies. This SIG provides a support mechanism for all those working in collection management. It is also an opportunity for all museum staff to participate in developing and disseminating national collections standards in order to ensure the accurate documentation of our heritage.
We are always seeking new members to join our discussions, plan professional development opportunities, and connect with others in the arts, culture, and heritage community. If you are working directly in collections management in an arts, culture, and heritage facility, we encourage you to contact MAS (see contact information below) to find out more!
