Networks are regionally-defined groupings of MAS member museums.
Each is unique with its own, individual identity and ways of working.
Networks meet regularly to share information & ideas, discuss
issues & concerns and work together on joint projects. Each Network
appoints a volunteer Networker to coordinate its activities and provide
a liaison with MAS staff and Board. Networks are a valuable members’
group within the Association and have become an increasingly important
vehicle for consultation for both MAS Board and staff.
The key roles for the Networks are:
| a) |
to facilitate communications between: |
| |
- MAS Board & staff and Network members
- Networks
- museums within a Network |
| and |
| b) |
to facilitate collective activities and projects within individual networks |
The
Skill Development Program is a network-based training opportunity
designed to increase knowledge and build on skills introduced in the
Certificate in Community Museums Studies program. Each Network works
with MAS staff to ensure the Skill Development workshop meets the
training needs of their members.
Network Grants
Network Operating grants of up to $500.00 are available annually to
active networks to help offset the operational cost of the network.
Networks are eligible to apply for Network Project grants to support joint projects on a cost-sharing basis.
