This one-day course is designed for entry-level museum practitioners who wish to learn more about organization and management of the community museum.
Effective organization and management are key to the smooth operation of a community museum. We explore the roles and responsibilities of the governing authority and responsibilities of board members. Public trust, policy development and risk management are discussed. Decision-making processes and challenges are discussed. Short-term and long-term planning are essential to good management of the organization. Financial and human resource management are defined with an emphasis on budget cycles and fundraising.
