The Seneca Root Regional Museums Association is one of 11 regional museums throughout the province of Saskatchewan, who regularly meet and collaborate on Museum issues, concerns and projects in partnership with the Museums Association of Saskatchewan. Ten such museums are represented in the Seneca Root Association (indicated above), which extend throughout the east central district of the province.
The name Seneca Root, was chosen to by the group upon its formation as a historic reminder of the importance of the Seneca plant which naturally grows throughout the area, and whose roots were dug, washed, dried and sold by the early pioneers for its medicinal properties. In this way, many early settlers were able to add a little income to their often meager lives in the parkland.
